Security guard Kulelwa Omick received a reward through the Gondwana Collection's Tourism Heroes Awards campaign. “A disturbing incident occurred when two suspicious individuals approached a campsite outside Katima Mulilo at a lodge in a canoe. Security guard Kulelwa Omick, who was on patrol that night, spotted them and acted with calculated bravery. He fired a warning shot, forced the intruders to retreat and secured their abandoned canoe with the help of the Sikunga Fish Guards,” Gondwana said. The incident led to increased security measures and underlines the commitment and quick thinking of Omick and his team in ensuring the safety of visitors to Namibia. The initiative aims to reward, recognise and support individuals and establishments that play a crucial role in the safety, hospitality, friendliness, care and preservation of Namibian tourism.
