New look and name for Eurowings
Eurowings Discover's director of product and marketing, Maximilian Meintgens, officially announced the airline's renaming to Discover Airlines on Friday.Theairline, which was initially established during the pandemic as a Lufthansa subsidiary under the Eurowings brand, has undergone significant growth and integration since July 2021, he said.
The airline has grown rapidly over the past two years and, since its inception in July 2021, has become a fully integrated, high-quality leisure airline in the Frankfurt and Munich hubs.
“We are delighted to announce that Eurowings Discover is now called Discover Airlines. We listened to our customers and made several changes to improve the passenger experience, such as introducing blankets in economy class. Our goal is to do everything to make flying a pleasure," Meintgens said.
The transformation extends beyond just a name change; it involves a complete visual overhaul. The new design draws inspiration from the meeting of the sky and the landscape, characterized by "horizons" consisting of various shades of blue and a sunny yellow. This contemporary yet sophisticated design reflects the essence of travel, emphasizing versatility and the joy of exploration.
Passengers will soon be able to see the transformation as repainted planes with the new branding will take to the skies from this month.
Highlighting the airline's growth and commitment to Namibia, Marco Götz, the chief revenue officer, said: “Namibia is one of our most important markets, which is why we decided to introduce the change here after it was done in Germany.
"We currently employ 2 000 people and have 22 aircraft in operation, with plans to expand further, including opening a Munich base."
Discover Airlines has maintained a strong presence in Namibia and has served more than 270 000 passengers to date, with a significant number booking premium or business class flights. Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the airline continued to fly to Namibia, highlighting the importance of the Namibian market.
