Roads closed: Marathon in Windhoek

On Saturday (29 July) the Vivo Energy Windhoek Marathon takes place in the capital and in light of this, the Windhoek City Council has issued a public notice stating that part of Independence Avenue and Sam Nujoma Drive will be closed between 06:00 and 11:00 on the day. More specifically, the left lane from Sam Nujoma Drive - at the municipality in the city center - to Daan Viljoen Street will be temporarily closed. The intersection of Independence Avenue and Fidel Castro Street will also be closed, so too the section of Independence Avenue between Daniel Munamava Street (Main Post Office) and Sam Nujoma Drive. Motorists and road users are asked to be patient and obey traffic rules and instructions from the race marshals. Inquiries can be directed to the City Council Customer Service on 061-290 3777.
