Route, aircraft changes for FlyNamibia

FlyNamibia announced that the airline will be changing the aircraft used for the route between Eros airport and Rundu from an 18-passenger Beechcraft 1900D to a 10-passenger Cessna F406 twin-turbine non-pressurised aircraft.
The change in aircraft will take effect on 5 April 2023. The decision was made to make the route more convenient for business travellers by enabling the option to fly into Rundu in the morning and return to Windhoek in the afternoon. The aircraft change is also better aligned with the current passenger load factor on this route and will also enable long-term sustainability going forward.
“The aircraft added onto the route has proven itself in the Namibian operating environment as being a safe and reliable platform,” said André Compion, managing director of FlyNamibia. “We have been making successful use of this aircraft on the FlyNamibia Safari route and we are excited that this change will bring sustainability to the Rundu route. If passenger loads increase, we will change to a larger aircraft to operate this route again.”
He added: “We remain committed to providing our passengers with safe, reliable, and accessible air travel options, and we appreciate their understanding as we make this necessary adjustment.”
Schedule change
With the ultimate aim of remaining an efficient and sustainable airline, FlyNamibia will also be making several schedule changes to the airline’s existing routes, including the route between Eros airport and Ondangwa, and Hosea Kutako International and Cape Town International.
The frequency of the afternoon Eros - Ondangwa route will be adjusted to every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, in effect removing flights currently offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Windhoek - Cape Town schedule will be adjusted to operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. These changes will take effect on 10 April 2023.
FlyNamibia currently operates domestic routes from Eros airport to Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay and Oranjemund, as well as a regional route between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Cape Town International.
