MICT, LifeLine sign MoU

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and LifeLine/Childline Namibia signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding in Windhoek on Wednesday to collaborate on cybersecurity awareness and public education, with a special focus on children.
This partnership aims to enhance public cybersecurity education through initiatives spearheaded by LifeLine/Childline Namibia. The focus will be on equipping children with the necessary knowledge to navigate the digital world safely to avert incidents of cybercrimes in Namibia.
Speaking at the signing, MICT executive director Audrin Mathe said that LifeLine/Childline Namibia will complement their ongoing efforts. "We look forward to working with these institutions for the betterment of our citizens. Cybersecurity requires concerted efforts from all sectors, and we call on others to join the government in building a cyber-resilient nation."
Nicolette Bessinger, director of LifeLine/Childline Namibia applauded the MICT for partnering with their organisation to implement the National Cybersecurity Strategy and Awareness Creation Plan.
To this end, this partnership will further strengthen the government's efforts in reaching out to children of various ages, out-of-school adults and youth as well as the parents and guardians and teachers of these children to educate them on how to protect themselves online and in line with the strategy.
