Sleeker, safer Hino 700

Hino Indongo brings you the Hino 700 series of incredible purpose-built and eminently capable extra heavy commercial vehicles, back with a brand new and improved year-model after a two year update gap.
The main branch in Windhoek presented an opportunity to get up close and personal to see, feel and touch the impressive new trucks last Thursday ( 12 October 20233) when the entire range from the small business or start-up suited 200’s, the medium 300’s and commercially appropriate 500’s, and of course the imposing 700’s were available for test drives.
According to general manager Jorinda Heymans, it was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the new arrivals.
Theuns Dreyer, sales executive for Hino at Hino Indongo, elaborates that the 700 series includes the 2841 TIP chassis, the freight carrier FC specifications model, and in TT truck tractor specifications.
All of them share the Hino E13C-BG engine. Turbocharged and intercooled, the six cylinder engine works with the Hino Stop and Start system.
Technology has been applied to advance the Hino 700 safety features including electronic control breaking system, anti-lock braking, anti-slip regulation, vehicle stability control, adaptive cruise control and also a lane departure warning system, staggering warning, drive monitor and the pre-collision system.
“Our trucks are for the medium to the long haul, or local deliveries, and they are well placed for the segment, with much improved safety aspects,” Dreyer says. “Drivers must concentrate on safe driving, so safety is built in, for example with the cameras and the brake assist, also controls to ensure drivers stay alert, blind spot sensors and lane departure warnings,” he elaborates.
“A truck is a business and we try to get you back on the road as quickly as possible,” Heymans says about the Hino Indongo work ethic. Apart from the main full dealership in the capital, the group also has service centers in Walvis Bay and Ongwediva. Furthermore a 24 hour standby assistance service is available.
Hino is part of the Toyota group and the trucks are built at the assembly plant in Durban, South Africa where Hino South Africa keeps a huge selection of spare parts to service all of Africa. Once ordered parts can arrive in Windhoek in three to four working days, from where they can be fitted at any one of the Hino Indongo workshops. “North, south, east, west, we service the whole market,” says the general manager.
In terms of the local economy Heymans says that things have started improving, and with more tenders being awarded the demand has increased. Hino Indongo is determined to make the most of the rest of the year, she said.
