Coach Robin celebrates a year of success
Namibian coach Robin du Toit continues to defy expectations, securing a fourth African Cup title in November and capping off a year of extraordinary achievements. With three World Championship gold medals, one World Championship silver medal, two world records, a South African Championships gold medal, and a Middle East Championships silver medal to his name in 2024, Du Toit has firmly established himself as one of the most accomplished coaches in strength sports.
At the African Cup, Du Toit’s coaching mastery was on display as he led Brendali Theron to victory in the u/64kg category. Theron not only claimed her fourth Africa’s Strongest Woman title but also set a new African continental record with an impressive 200kg deadlift. This achievement ranks her among the top 99.4% of athletes globally.
The African Cup brought together the continent’s best strength athletes for a gruelling showdown. Over two days, competitors faced events designed to test every aspect of their power, speed and endurance. A highlight was the 200kg Yoke Walk for speed, where athletes raced under the crushing weight of a steel yoke, and the 150kg Farmer’s Walk, which demanded incredible grip strength and explosive power.
Du Toit’s athletes excelled through meticulous preparation and mental grit.
Reflecting on the competition, he said, “This wasn’t just a showcase of physical strength – it was about resilience, discipline, and heart. That’s what separates the good from the great.”
Du Toit, a Sports Scientist and Movement Specialist with a background in psychology, attributes his success to his faith in Jesus Christ. “Through faith, I kept getting back up when I fell, and I got it done.
“This year has been monumental; not just for me, but for everyone who believes that hard work, faith, and persistence can change their lives,” he said.
He remains committed to pushing boundaries and inspiring others, demonstrating that no dream is too big and no setback is final.
