In an bid to combat food insecurity and hunger, the Ndamona Foundation launched a nutrition programme for children in the Tsjaka community in the Kalahari constituency of the Omaheke region.
The community is located about 50 kilometers from Gobabis.
The programme, which is expected to benefit more than 100 children, is part of the foundation's broader mission to improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations in Namibia.
The initiative was inspired by the urgent need to tackle the high levels of malnutrition among children in the Chaka community.
By providing regular nutritious meals, Ndamona aims to improve the health, growth and education of the community's youngest members.
Currently, the foundation plans to feed the children every weekend, with hopes of expanding depending on the availability of additional donations and resources.
Besides addressing immediate hunger, the programme is expected to significantly improve the academic performance and overall well-being of these children.
Giving the vulnerable access to basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter is one of Ndamona's main goals, says Tshepo Neumbo.
In this way, it is ensured that the most urgent needs of the community are met by paying attention to basic needs, he explained.
Apart from essential resources such as food, clothing and shelter, the foundation also focuses on youth development, health education, sanitation, mental health, the development of agriculture as well as sports programmes.
