The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia (NamBTS) hosts ‘Engine Bleed: The Ultimate Blood Drive’ on Saturday at the Old Wheelers Club in Windhoek.
The event - set to kick off at 09:30 - is designed to bring car and bike lovers and community-minded individuals together with a shared mission to "save lives through blood donation", a statement read.
“‘Engine Bleed’ is an annual event. Last year, an impressive 90 people donated blood. This year, the target is 150 donations. The event forms part of our ongoing campaign - #DareToCare – which reiterates the power people have to save lives, by donating blood."
NamBTS marketing and donor relations manager Zita Tobin added: “We invite all adventure-loving individuals to join us in this ultimate blood drive and make a real difference in the lives of those in need”.
Earlier this year, the blood bank announced that blood levels were the lowest they had been in four years, and urged the public to show up in large numbers to donate.
