Hi Printing beach volleyball tourney to elevate northern talent

Hi Printing and Design Investment CC, owned by Hillary Dux Imbuwa, Namibia Volleyball Federation's (NVF) honourary president, will be hosting its third beach volleyball tournament on 19 October at SOS Children’s Village playground.
The tournament, facilitated by the Far North Volleyball Association (FNVA), promises fierce competition in the men's and women's sections, with gold medals and N$1,000 up for grabs for the winners. The second-place team will receive N$600 and silver medals, while the third-place finishers will take home N$400 and bronze medals.

Registration
The registration fee per team is N$200, and the first 10 teams to sign up will receive 20 playing vests each, courtesy of the German friends of volleyball and Heiko Kesselmann from DTS Sports Club. Registration closes on 15 October, and teams can secure their spot by contacting the organisers at 081 407 6009 or 081 244 7888.
Hi Printing’s earlier beach volleyball tournaments were held at the Ondangwa Tennis Courts, marking special occasions like Independence Day in 2022 and Valentine's Day in 2023.
According to Imbuwa, the tournaments are a way for Hi Printing to give back to the community. “Most participating teams are Hi Printing clients for their gear and we believe that money made from volleyball should be reinvested into the sport,” he said.

‘Discover new talent in the North’
As NVF's honourary president, Imbuwa remains committed to supporting the growth of volleyball, especially beach volleyball across the country. “Tournaments are usually held in Windhoek or Swakopmund, which makes it hard for players from regions like Zambezi or the North to participate. We aim to expand the sport across the country and discover new talent, particularly in the North,” he said.
Imbuwa urged businesses to support the growth of volleyball, particularly beach volleyball, which he believes is still regionally concentrated.
“While indoor volleyball has grown, beach volleyball remains centred in certain regions. We see this tournament as an opportunity to engage indoor players, whose season has ended, in beach volleyball and young players from the North, including school athletes, to lure them to participate in beach volleyball and further refine their skills.”
