Namibia's top chess player, Dante Beukes, will represent the country at the sport's World Cup tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan as from Saturday.
The World Cup starts on Saturday and continues until 24 August as a knockout tournament, with top players from all over the world.
More than 20o participants from over 50 countries are expected.
"We are a delegation of three - one player, a manager (Berdian Beukes) and myself as head of mission," said Goodwill Khoa, president of the Namibia Chess Federation (NCF), before their departure.
Beukes left the country on 27 June en route to Serbia to play preparatory matches.
"It was a good trip. Of the 27 matches, Dante won eight, drew 13 and lost six, for a rating of 2301. On Saturday we face Ivan Saric, a Croatian chess grandmaster in a doubles match,” Berdian said.
